Galeria Superfície is pleased to announce the acquisition of works by our artists who are now part of the permanent collection of the Museu Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía.

Narrowing the partnership between Superfície and the institution, historical works such as “Identidade do Artista” by Angelo de Aquino, poem-objects by Neide Sá, Álvaro de Sá, Márcio Sampaio and Moacy Cirne, banner by Pietrina Checcacci, as well as works by the Grupo Poema/Processo, Sonia Andrade and Vera Chaves Barcellos, make up the long-term exhibition that opened on June 16th, 2021. In addition to acquisitions, donations of works from Gustavo Nóbrega’s personal archive are also included.

The exhibition focuses on Latin American artistic production between 1964 and 1987 and its relationship with Spain. The political transformations of the time and the emergence of new artistic practices, such as Mail Art, favored a series of significant exchanges for the future of contemporary art.
