Curated by Gustavo Nóbrega and with text by Glória Ferreira, the selected works present a small panorama of the conceptual art of the 1970s. Works on xerox art, mail art, video, photography, sound works, heliography, computer art, artist’s book, etc., works that represent a fragment of the profusion of new languages used by the artists of the period, making evident how this experimentation of the artistic media coined a new range of languages that is present until today in the contemporary art.

The production of the artists exhibited in “New Media and Conceptualism in the 70s” was the target, in its emergence, of several exhibitions organized by the renowned art critic Walter Zanini. Zanini made bold and innovative exhibitions, such as the I Biennial of Postal Art, in 1981. Thirty-eight years later, one of the sectors of the exhibition in Galeria Superfície will be dedicated to the same Mail Art, and will exhibit a rich collection which documents the intense exchange between artists of the time.
